cursor - highlights all to right

hi, long time Access user....just installed Access2003 and noticed something
I have never seen before;

when I attempt to insert my cursor into a property box, criteria field,
etc...all to the right of the cursor is highlighted and I can't seem to undo
that....

So if I make a slight mispelling in a label I am not able to just insert the
cursor and add or change a letter - everything to the right of the cursor
gets highlighted and I must retype it all.

Kind of trivial at first - but is becoming quite a headache when tweaking an
sql statement....have to retype it all....bummer....

Is this an option of some sort somewhere??

You turned the <EXT> feature on when you pressed <F8> in the Access window
instead of in the VB editor window. To get rid of this feature, save your
work and close Access. Open your database again and it will work normally
until you press <F8> again in the Access window.

And just in case you're thinking Access 2003 is bonkers, it's not a new
feature, hon. It's been around since at least Access 97. You've just been
fortunate not to have tripped on it before.

Thanks for providing me with an opportunity to revisit this. I experimented
some more and found the right way to fix this. Instead of exiting out of
Access, just hit the Esc key. (I thought I'd tested this before, but
apparently not.)
