When I place a CD in my CD-ROM drive, a small cartoonlike image of a CD
appears next to the cursor and follows the cursor around for a while. Then
it disappears. How can I disable this function? Thanks.

Sounds like an animation add-on - did you load a new mouse driver or
something recently? I ran CursorXP for a while - it had cute effects
like that. It made my system act up, so I dumped it. :( See if you
have some settings under Control Panel - Display, Mouse, or somewhere.

If you really can't find it otherwise, try Spybot S&D, and HijackThis.

When you post the HJT log, put something descriptive in the article
title (better than "Help me with my HijackThis log").

I hate spam - PLEASE get rid of the spam before emailing me!
Paranoia comes from experience - and is not necessarily a bad thing.

Actually, this is normal behavior for Windows XP. The system is reading
the cd and will, unless set differently, open a dialog box asking you
what you'd like to do with the cd - look at the files, send to webpage,
etc. It's like the hourglass/busy cursor only specialized for cd's
under XP.

I've set WindowsXP to do nothing when I load a CD. So how do I stop the
cursor cartoon? Thanks.
