Im using WinXP Home SP2, and my ctrl key seems to be corrupted. For example:
while using explorer, pusing the key opens the favorites sidebar & when
playing a game it mutes all sounds.

When i open the volume controls, pressing the ctrl key ticks the 'mute all'
checkbox, muting all sounds.

Can anyone help me?

Make sure StickyKeys is not enabled in Accessibility Options.

Try a different keyboard.
