When I boot up win2000 I get to the ctrl alt del screen
and my keyboard seems to not respond. It isn't the
keyboard. When I go to power down I get a
drive_power_state_failure
I think it is a driver issue.
I have already hooked up a usb keyboard with no fix.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Just a thought. Disable all Power Options (CPL) and try again. Might
point out some problem that is related.

when you boot up your machine, try going to the BIOS,
usually, del, or f2, f10, will work. it should display
which. if you arent able to get into the bios, it's
either your keyboard or your port. it isnt a driver
problem.

I can get into bois fine. My cap key works until the
windows 2000 screen appears. Then the keyboard dies.

And in Safe Mode? How about in Recovery Console?
It does sound rather like Windows keyboard driver issues but I've not
seen this before so... Any other hardware of driver changes
recently. Like Video perhaps.

Any possibility there of LAN access to this system?

Did any of Jerold's references have any relevance?

There is a problem with safe mode. The pc comes al the
way up and you can't ctrl alt del to get to any prompts.
I can get to recovery console but it will not repair.
All the devices on the laptop are on the mother board. I
can remove the cd rom but that doesn't help.
It may be time to reload!! I hate that!!
