If no tabs are vicible, double click anywhere on the Task Manager border.

Task Manager Menu Bar and Tabs Are Not Visible
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;193050

When you open Task Manager, flashes for a second and quits.
This symptom is caused by Viruses.

Task Manager, MSCONFIG, or REGEDIT disappear while opening
http://www.mvps.org/sramesh2k/ToolsQuit.htm

To start Task Manager:

Ctrl + Alt + Delete
or
Ctrl + Shift + Esc
or
Right click the Taskbar | Task Manager
or
Start | Run | Type: taskmgr | Click OK

Ctrl + Alt + Delete opens the Windows Security window if the Welcome screen
is turned off.

Shane,

Are you virus free?

Ctrl + Alt + Delete isn't gonna work until you get rid of the viruses.

Update your antivirus software and run a full system scan.

Do the same for whatever anti-spyware applications that you have.

Read this whole thing again...

either.

I have run a full norton anti virus scan and MS spyware, but nothing
found?????

What version of NAV? Is it 2005/06 or earlier? Is the subscription
active and the virus definitions current?

Start by scanning with either Sysclean or David Lipman's Multi-AV in
Safe Mode:

http://www.ik-cs.com/multi-av.htm - how to use Dave Lipman's Multi-AV
http://www.ik-cs.com/programs/virtools/Multi_AV.exe - Multi-AV download

After your initial scanning with one of those tools, if your NAV is not
current, make it so or uninstall it and get a full-featured antivirus,
update it, and do a thorough scan in Safe Mode.

Then continue scanning for non-viral malware:

If getting Regedit back will help you clean up, do a search for regedit.*.
The spyware usually adds a file called regedit.com or regedit.bat and that's
what stops regedit from opening (regedit.exe being the REAL version). Just
delete the imposter and regedit will work, but that still does not get rid
of the problem ;).
