Subject: Magistrates Court - Barking.

Court ruling from Barking Magistrates Court
A seven year old boy was at the centre of a courtroom drama this morning
when he challenged a court ruling over who should have custody of him.
The boy has a history of being beaten by his parents and the judge initially
awarded custody to his aunt, in keeping with the child custody law and
regulations requiring that family unity be maintained to the degree
possible.
The boy surprised the court when he proclaimed that his aunt beat him more
than his parents and he adamantly refused to live with her. When the judge
suggested that he live with his grandparents, the boy cried out that they
also beat him.
After considering the remainder of the immediate family and learning that
domestic violence was apparently a way of life among them, the judge took
the unprecedented step of allowing the boy to propose who should have
custody of him.
After two recesses to check legal references and confer with child welfare
officials, the judge granted temporary custody to the England Cricket Team,
whom the boy firmly believes are "not capable of beating anyone."

Who could the English Cricket team beat?
No one else in the world plays cricket...
Here in the U.S. crickets just lie around and rub their legs together.

For a U.S. football team to gain custody of an abused child by court order would make for spectacular public relations news unlike any ever seen here before! Of all the strange things we do here, this one you have really takes the cake. I only wish our legal system would have the balls to try such an unorthadox (but guaranteed successful) solution!

Newf do you realise this is British humour at its best???
Nope, not a clue...
I only know that "our" tabloids here on this side of the pond would go gaga over this.
I also know that stories as crazy as this ACTUALLY HAPPEN here, (usually celebrities getting involved rather than sports teams)!
It's the sports angle that makes it so special.
Sorry if I am so gullible. We are an odd lot here in the U.S.

Ah.... but did you know that the word gullible came from a secure psychiatric establishment opened in Victorian England where people who thought they were mad , walked in off the streets and were commited for life ....just by even pulling what is now known as a "gurning" face..safe in the knowledge that at least they would be fed 2 meals a day ??
