CRT monitor?

I'm getting into the market for a new monitor. I've been usoing a 17"
Viewsonic tube since new in 1996. It's been great, still works
properly, still looks good but I want a larger (19 to 21 inch) CRT
that's capable of 1920x1440, and (if possible) with more in-depth color
adjustments built into the monitor. I'm not particularly interested in
LCD monitors as I still notice poor contrast on all of them except the
most expensive (over $1,000) models, and I'm thinking about capping out
in the $500-600 range at most. I'm tempted to simply go into a newer
Viewsonic, but if anyone has a reccomendation for a specific 19 to 21
inch CRT monitor, I'd be happy to have it. I know that NEC/Mitsubishi
are said to have a very good monitor although I've seen very few of
them. Also, I know that Sony was selling an "Artisan Edition"
widescreen CRT up untill a year or so ago, is there still such a thing
as a wide-aspect CRT for computer use?

I keep hoping that we "may" be on the verge of getting
a decent LCD monitor . That being the case, the
19 inch AOC monitors look nice .. esp the flat screen
ones ... and the price is very affordable. And maybe
they'll improve the LCDs and get the price down.

The AOCs look nice, but the 19-inch CRT seems to cap out at 1600x1200,
a little shy of what I'd like the monitor to be capable of. Thanks for
the reccomendation though.

Apple's "Cinema Display" LCDs are probably the best I've seen, with
Sony's most expensive model a close 2nd, but they're all over $1,000,
and if I'm gonna spend $1,300 on a monitor, I'd rather spend $1,900 on
Sony's KV-34XBR960 34-inch 16:9 HDTV.

Thanks for the heads up, but almost $900 for a refurbished LCD doesn't
really get me very excited. If I were interested in spending that kind
of money on an LCD I'd look for a used Apple Cinema Display on EBay.
