ok i am new to this networking bit but heres what i have
got:-
PC share internet connection ip 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.0
laptop ip 192.168.1.2 255.255.255.0 default gateway
192.168.1.1
pc in view work group computer sees itself and not the
laptop
Laptop sees itself and the pc
ping times out
where am i going wrong

Please start by providing ipconfig information for each computer.
Start - Run - "cmd". Type "ipconfig /all >c:\ipconfig.txt" into the command
window - Open c:\ipconfig.txt in Notepad, copy and paste into your next post.
Identify operating system (by name and version) with each ipconfig listing.

Are you running a firewall program? If so you probably need to add the
other computer's IP address to the trusted zone list in the firewall program
of each computer.
