critical updates

Hi

I am running windows xp (currently re-installed from
recovery cd). I have 40 critical updates to do but i
cannot get in to do them. Explorer scans my pc ok and
tells me how many updates i have to do but when i click to
view and install it gives me an error message "page cannot
be displayed". Is there something in my internet options
that i need to change please?
