Critical updates

My computer freezes after several minutes of installing
critical updates and nothing happens. I have even left
the computer running all night at times to see if it was
just slow, but in the morning there had been no advance
in the install procedure. I have as well deleted most of
the updates and just tried to install them one at a
time , but to no avail. What is wrong here, can you
please tell me?
