Critical updates not downloading

Recent critical updates from MS will not download. They freeze up my PC and botting will not help. I end up having to unplug the power source from the wall outlet. Others I talk to have had the same problem. Solutions?
 
Hi,

Search and delete "Catroot" folder in your system and try again. In case if
the issue persists, chk this site for troubleshooting information:

http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/troubleshoot/
