On 20 September, I received the following update from
Microsoft with instructions:
"MS Partner
this is the latest version of security update, Pack85.exe
the "September 2003, Cumulative Patch" update which fixes
all known security vulnerabilities affecting MS Internet
Explorer, MS Outlook and MS Outlook Express as well as
three new vulnerabilities. Install now to protect your
computer from these vulnerabilities, the most serious of
which could allow an attacker to run code on your
computer. This update includes the functionality of all
previously released patches." I run Windows XP on a Dell
Model 4550.
Upon reboot, the following error now triggers:
"Memory access violation in module kernel32 at
6667:54146865". The error did not appear prior to the
installation of Pack85.exe. Any ideas on how to
eliminate this "Error Occurred" message on startup?
