I have so far tried to install "Security Update for Windows XP
(KB835732)" about 10 times... It downloads and installs fine but next
time I check for Windows Updates, it is still there to be installed and
it's the same all over again.. How can I install it or at least how can
I confirm it's actually intalled and make that update go away?

TIA

Acting under the assumption that you are using Windows XP with SP1
installed...

Download the update manually from here
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...9E-DA3F-43B9-A4F1-AF243B6168F3&displaylang=en

Then try running it.

Hopefully it installs without problems and the prompts go away.

However, if it fails, please note the exact error messages and post back.
It's very likely this same (or very similar error) is causing your issue.

No error message but the hotfix re-appeared again, I followed the
instructions of
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;[LN];319109
carefully but still no luck - it raises like a phoenix from ashes each
time I check for updates.

Kelly,

I downloaded the script - how do I modify it to correct HotFix KB835732 and
not HotFix KB828026 as it was designed to do? I cannot open the script.

Right click it, chose edit and do find replace, save and double click to
run. If you have a virus checker it will probably warn you that a
"malicious" script is about to run but ignore it.

I discovered this after posting - I edited the script - ran it twice - still
the hot fix is there after scanning for updates - Curses on that hot fix -
Curses!
