Creatize Zen Vision W 30GB - MTP driver not working

Whenever I plug in my Creatize Zen Vision W, the MTP driver tries to install
but then fails. I subsequently found a message saying the device cannot
start even though the Zen screen shows up as being docked. Does anyone have
an idea as to what the problem may be? The Creative site says Vista has
native support for this device. (bought less than 6 months ago)

Any advice will be greatly appreciated! I'm running Vista Ultimate.

I have a vision M: creative and it works flawlessly. Have you tried a
firmware upgrade for your player?

Yes, I updated the firmware back in December and there isn't a more recent
version available. I have all of the current software downloads as well but,
of course, they can't detect the Zen because of the MTP driver issue. :-(

I thought only the PFS version was supported under Vista?

I think Windows XP/Vista hates MTP on some machines. Can't figure it out. Ask
for a refund on your player?

For some mysterious reason, it's working just fine now. A few issues with
the Creative software but I can live with that for now.

Thanks everyone

I have the same player & had no probs with it in Vista nor XP which I use
now.
I make a point in never installing the creative software though WMP11 does
all I need it to do.
What functions does the Creative software give that WMP doesn't, just
wondering?

You're using PFS, not MTP firmware.

You obviously know more about this than me :-)
I just took the player out the box & plugged it in, not flashed the firmware
or done anything like that.
I'm sure when I plugged it in for the 1st time it said it was installing a
driver for a MTP device.
But windows installed the driver & I didn't use the Creative CD.
WMP workd great with this player, copying files back & forth.

is there a MTP service?
