CREATING WORD TEMPLATES

I use MS Word 2003 and have encountered the following:

I've changed the default font to Arial (previously it was Eurostile). The
moment Eurostile is installed the template uses that as the default font. I
tried to resolve this by selecting all text and then select Arial and to
re-select Arial as the default without any success.

I've created a template with different sections and have the page numbers
displayed as (e.g.) 1-1. Now I need to add an Addendum with page numbers of
(e.g.) A-1 and have them included in the TOC.

I've created autotext with its formatting, but the moment I add it to a
toolbar the formatting is lost.

Please can you help me?

Thanks,

New or revised templates require you to exit Word and relaunch it before
they will work. You may also need to change the characteristics of the
Normal style, by selecting Ariel (and any other characteristics you want).

Richard,

I've tried it and it still happens. I get a feeling that a 'hidden' code
triggers the default font to change. Is this possible?

Thanks
M

From your original message, it wasn't clear *how* you changed the
defaults. What happens, in a newly created document, if you press
Ctrl+A (to select all) and then press Ctrl+SpaceBar? Does that give
you the desired formatting? If so, direct formatting (that is,
formatting not in style) has been applied to text. Open the template
as a document (again, see
http://word.mvps.org/faqs/customization/CustomizeNormalTemplate.htm)
and repeat the procedure.
