Creating slides that start as gray scale & fade to colour

I was sent a Powerpoint slide show with each slide containing a view of
scenery. When each slide first appears it is in grey scale but it gradually
changes to a full colour picture over about a 10 second period. I would like
to be able to do the same using PP 2003. If I look at a slide, click on
Custom Animation & play it, it shows a timeline moving from left to right
with the seconds elapsed being displayed. The slides in slide view only show
as one slide each full colour (no grey scale slides).
If somebody could explain how this is done I would be very grateful.
Thanks, John

Almost certainly there are two images on the slide (one B&W and the other
colour)
The colour image is in front of the B&W and has a 10 second fade entrance
animation.

There are other ways to do this but this is the most likely

No - there are only colour images definitely. (I thought there were two
until I viewed in ppt.)

Sorry John, you are correct. I deleted the colour image & the b & w one was
underneath (duh!). Very clever I thought.
