Creating Redundant DHCP

M

Michael D. Ober

I have two Windows 2000 Servers in an AD domain. DHCP is installed on both,
but only running on one of them. Is there an easy way to move the
reservations from one server to the other so I can set up redundant DHCP
servers? I know I need to split the dynamic addressing.

PS - Microsoft, please incorporate DHCP into the AD structure so that
multiple DHCP servers can coexist. You can use the network Master Browser
as the actual DHCP server to avoid multiple DHCP servers responding to a
DHCP request. Yes, this is a non-standard extension of DHCP, but with more
networks using DHCP and DHCP becoming a single point of failure, this would
set Windows Servers apart from other servers.
