Creating MDE for 2002 user using 2003 or 2007 version

Is it possible to create MDE files from Access 2007 or 2003 to be used by
Access 2002 users? At the moment if I do this users get a message to say that
it was created by a version higher and they need to upgrade.

Similarly, does anyone know if the same happens creating an MDE from 2007
for use by 2003 user? (At the moment I have a mixed user base and I only have
Access 2007 or 2002 and ideally would like to be able to drop my Access 2002).

Create the MDE in the oldest version you need to support. They are forward
compatible (except A97), but not backard compatible.
