I want to create a drop down menu in excel and have no idea how to do this -
can someone help?

Debbie, what exactly do you want in the drop down menu? The contents of
a column or row of data elsewhere on the spreadsheet perhaps?

If so, highlight the cell you want the menu to drop down from and
select data/validation. Select 'list" from the allow menu on the
settings tab. Place your cursor in the source box then highlight the
data you want to appear in the drop down box. This can be a row or
column of data.

You should now have a drop down list.

If your data is on a different worksheet thats a bit more complex. You
then must give the data a 'name' and then reference it in the source
box by typing = and the name. Eg if you want a list of fruit, highlight
the column or row of different fruits. In the name box at the top left
hand of the screen (The one which displays the cell ref) type in the
name 'fruit'. Back to the worksheet with the drop down list on, select
data/validation/list again and in the source box type =fruit

Hope that helped!

Andy
