I am having to send emails out in a "broadcast" to members of certain
groups" in my address book. Is there a way to prevent the group
recipients of my emails from knowing who else received the message,
thus preserving the privacy of all the members of the group?

Yes, there is. Put them in BCC instead of the the To field. To turn the
display of the Bcc field on, open a new mail, click on the "View" menu and
then check the option "Bcc field"

Use the BCC field or create a mail merge from within Word
