Hello MSN!

I recently purchased a PC with Vista. I would like to set up a network
between that PC and a PC running XP. I created a network on the XP and saved
the info to a CD to load on the Vista PC... no luck.

What do I need to do to get the 2 comunicating?

Any info is greatly appreciated!!

You have to have sharing enabled on both. Both need to be on the same
network with the same workgroup name.
If you use DHCP for configuring your network (get network address
automatically) the network should be the same.
But I understand the default workgroup name is different in Vista & XP.
Check it and make them match, it doesn't matter which one you use as long as
both are in the same workgroup.
Sometimes Vista doesn't 'see' the XP machine without the update available
through the Knowlege base article KB922120

A Microsoft newsgroup exists that is dedicated to network and sharing issue under Vista. The link below will setup the access in OE or Windows Mail

I did everything they recommended to connect my new Vista machine with my XP
machine, both with login accounts for me and my wife, and couldn't get it
working. Then, during a trouble-shooting session, a help message on my XP
machine mentioned that passwords were required for it to work. So I added
passwords to my XP and Vista accounts, and they /immediately/ started
working perfectly. Just FYI.
