Creating a zip folder then using it

Hi, I'm trying to send a large pdf file to my other pc. I know how to create
a compressed folder so I can 'zip ' the file up (compress) but when I write
click on the file and choose 'send to' my zip folder is there but when I
click on it all it keeps saying is "empty". I know its empty...I created
it...now I want to put the file in it. Why won't it take the file, (it won't
take any other files either). I checked the properties and it says its
allowed to be shared and archived. Can someone tell me whats up?
Thanks,Catt

I just tried hilighting a group of files, right click>send to>compressed
folder.
it created a zip file named after the first file in the list with the .zip
extension.
all 10 files were in there.

You're right, no question I just tried it on my laptop and it did it no
problem. However its my desktop pc that would not do it. When I clicked on
send to there was no compressed folder in the menu, so I went to start/run
and typed in sendto as instructed by Windows help. I created a new folder
named zip folder. It was created along with the zip icon (zipper on folder)
and in fact is there now when I right click on a file but when I choose it it
simply says empty.
