Windows Vista, I have never set a 'new user' before. It is my girl friends
laptop and I made me a 'user' for myself but when I go to my (not sure what
to call it) desk top? I cannot get programs that are on her desk top. How do
I make specific programs accessible on my desk top, non-ms programs. I
also have documents that are now in her documents which i want to move to my
user document folder.

In explorer, go to C:\users\Your Girl Friend\Desktop and copy the shortcuts
there to C:\users\Your Name\Desktop. Repeat the process for documents except
instead of copy use move.

I'm running as a standard user and can move/copy my administrative user's
things fine.

There is no 'DeskTop' in my user folder. There is in my girl friends, I
found that right away.

Look under c:\users\ for a user named Default. This profile is used to
create the profile for a new user. It should have a desktop folder in it.
When the new user logs on for the first time, the default profile is copied
to a new folder and the folder is given the new user's name. You can play
with the default as you wish. If Default has a desktop, every new user will
have one too.
