I have Vista on my desk top and XP on my Laptop and other two desktops.
Before I installed Vista was able to share the printer and access my hard
drives from the other computers, now I can't. I've turned on File and
Printer Sharing on the vista computer but still doesn't work. Please,
someone help.

Make sure Printer Sharing and password protected sharing is turned on under
Network and Sharing Center. (Start > Network > click Network and Sharing
Center on the command bar).

How would that allow me to access it, if it has no password I should be able
to without entering a password. I turned it on like you suggested and it
didn't work.

I HAVE THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM! some please HELP!!! could this just be a
generic bug that we would expect frm a new operating system?

I solved it. I had downloaded Windows Live OneCare and that has it's own
firewall that was blocking the possibility of seeing computers as well as
sharing printers. If you are using that program you need to go in and change
the Firewall setting to allow me to see the other computers as well as allow
file and printer sharing. Boy do I feel dumb, such an easy solution and took
me a week to figure it out. Hope this helps.

I was having problems seeing Vista from XP. My Vista computer has two
ethernet ports. One I used for the Linksys wireless router and the other was
for my printer. For months I tried to figure things out. I worked with
firewalls and all of the suggestions listed in a lot of forums, but the only
thing that fixed it was changing my printer from ethernet to USB. Then
everthing just popped.

I am not sure why, but that is when it worked. Now I love Vista. Especially
the DreamScene background.

I am having the same problem...before Vista I could access my printers from
my other computers on XP...now I can't. Also, added a new HP PhotoSmart
printer on the computer with Vista and none of my other computers recognize
it. HP couldn't help me, nor could my computer maker.
