Create 'dummy' record for selection in combo box

Hi all,

I have in the past created combo boxes where the data source is based on
tables/queries. There is a way (and I can't for the life of me remember how)
that you can include a 'dummy' record ie; "Choose option...".

I do remember vaguely that you have to create it using SQL rather than query
view as there is some kind of JOIN.

Is anyone able to assist with this?
