Create clips: Scene changes detection or date/time?

When capturing from a mini-DV camera, and choosing to create clips after the
capture, does MM2 use scene changes or date/time of the recording to create
clips?

Any way to set MM2 to use date/time and not scene changes for clip creation?

Will it do that if the tape has been striped (recorded with blank video from
beginning to end to lay down a continuous time code)?

Many software that do batch capture advise users to do that to blank tapes
before using them..

I guess it would. It looks for breaks in the timecode of a second or more.
So, however the timecode info got onto the tape, it would use it....
prestriped or not.

When I capture analog Hi8 tapes in a digital8 camcorder, it also looks for
timecode data breaks, and because there aren't any, I don't get auto clip
generation.

Can't you import the clip (like you would any pre-existing AVI on your PC)
and ask MM2 to create clips? In that case, it should use scene changes to
create clips on that captured AVI file..
