Create a screensaver timeout alarm

My administrator mandates that the screensaver timeout is set to 15 minutes.
I would like to have an audible warning when nonactivity is at 14 minutes so
I can wiggle the mouse or type a key to reset the nonactivity timeout and
avoid having to log back in. Is there someway to do this, perhaps in the
registry? I'm using XP Pro SP 2 ver 2002. Thanks.

Couple things. These newsgroups should not be used for asking questions on
how to bypass your company security policies. As far as the registry is
concerned, if your admin implemented a screensaver policy, most likely you
are blocked from the registry.

Because the screensaver is set to pop in after 15 minutes, schedule a sound
file that will alert you after 14 minutes...Easy.........

Not that I know of, sorry. Remember, you aren't logging back in - you're
just entering your credentials to unlock the session. If this 15-minute
timeout is mandated by company policy, and your management likes it that
way, not much you can do to increase it, either....

Actually I wasn't looking for a way to bypass the security policy. The
purpose of activating the screensaver after inactivity is to prevent an
unauthorized person from accessing the system because the authorized user
walks away. As the authorized user I wanted a warning that the default
inactivity time was about to expire so I could extend it, which I'm
authorized to do. If there was a way to add this to the registry I could pass
that info on to my administrator.

Doesn't actually generate much sound, but how about setting the power
management (if you IT administrator hasn't locked that out too) to turn
the monitor off after ten minutes. If you are sitting at the desk you
would have to be REALLY concentrating on something else to not notice
the display suddenly going black.

That's an excellent suggestion.
Thanks.
