Crashing

My XP home SP2 keeps crashing when ever i try to run applications over and
above what i normally use.
IE if im just using PC to play a game and then use it to play Music at the
same time it will Freeze and i have to reboot.
or i could be downloading from kazaa or DC and then switch to using the
CD/DVD drive and it will freeze while searching disk.

It has only been doing this since i installed Microsofts new anti spyware
program ( so maybe a setting needs to be changed? )
tho the Spyware program is the best ive seen on the market :)

maybe i need to remove it??

Please Help

The Microsoft Ant-Spyware program is in beta presently, and should not be
run on a production machine..

thanx for replying

i forgot to mention that when the PC freezes i mean that it will NOT close a
program down properly but lets it stay on a tab on desktop yet if i choose
to end it it will go thruthe normal procedures but not actuallly remove it
from desktop.

which means that i have to shut PC down in order to get proper service
resumed
