After upgrading a few machines to SP2 and attaching a USB
flash memory key the system blue screens and reboots. At
first I thought this was a localized issue but it occurs
on all systems upgraded (each a different hardware config)
and with 2 different makes of flash drives. We tested the
following hardware:
Defect Description:
Attaching a USB flash memory key to a system running
Microsoft Windows SP2 results in a system crash and a
reboot.
Machines:
IBM Thinkpad T42 Series (laptop)
Dell Inspiron 1150 Series (laptop)
Gatway e2100 Series (desktop)
Micron Milleniia (very old machine)
Drives:
IBM USB Key 64 meg
Lexar Jump Drives 128 and 256 meg models
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Upgrade any of the above listed machines to SP2
2. Attach any of the above listed flash memory keys into a
usb port of the machine.
My Question:
Has anybody else encoutered this or have a workaround
short of removing SP2 to resolve this issue?
