CPU Usage

Why is it that whenever I use "Windows Mail" my CPU usage shoots up to around
80-99% and does not come back down to a reasonable level until I close the
programme? This is complicated further if I try and download a large file in
another programme whilst I have windows Mail running as the PC disconnects
from the my ISP and starts to redial again.
Any ideas?

How much RAM memory does your computer have? Some new computers
come with perhaps 512 MB, but Vista tend to run better with 2 GB or more.
The 32-bit versions of Vista can't use more than about 3.5 GB, though, and
simply ignore any more you install than that.

First check that your antivirus / antispam software is not interfering with
WinMail. At least make sure email scanning is disabled. See point 3 here:
www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3 You might also try compacting and repairing
the database with my Windows Mail Utility (www.oehelp.com/WMUTil/).

For the disconnect issue, check your WinMail settings under Tools | Options
| Connections and Tools | Accounts | Mail | Properties | Connection.
