CPU Usage

MY machine is running unworkably slow. Even though I have
no applications open the CPU usage in task manager reports
a constant 100%. I have win 2k pro, the latest SP and have
automatic updates set which occur frequently. My virus
software finds nothing wrong, this also has automatic
updates. I have also stopped this but still the CPU Usage
remains constantly maxed.

This has been like this for a few days now and my deadline
is getting closer.

Did you look in Task Manager to find out what process was using all the CPU?

You could go here to find out what/if you have a virus.

Hi Simmy,

We need to determine if you have installed the MS04-011.
If this is the case please refer to the Knowledgebase article

This outlines that the Plug and Play is stuck in a loop
attempting to install a driver.

This article has a hotfix for the issue.
Please contact Microsoft Support to get this hotfix.
