CPU Usage Monitor for Windows98

Is there a reliable CPU usage monitor (i.e., one that doesn't always
show 100%) that works with Windows 98 that will show the CPU %
(numeric) in the task bar? Similar to the way RAM Idle Pro shows the
amount of free RAM.

Thanks for any advice.

Grab "Process Explorer" for Win9x from www.sysinternals.com

It runs in the tray (if you tell it to do so when minimized) and provides
extensive process information and the tool tip - when you hover the mouse
pointer over it - is CPU% Also can show cpu/memory utilization similar to
the task manager in NT/2k/Xp

Highly recommended for lots of reasons...

Thanks, I'm currently using Process Explorer. I was hoping to find
something that showed the CPU usage % in the system tray, rather than
having to open the app or move the cursor over it. PE is an excellent
product.

Process explorer does show you the cpu usage (in gaphical form i.e turning
from green to red on higher usage.. not numbered form)in the system tray.Ive
tried a few cpu monitors on my 98se.Tclock was a good one but i noticed that
sometimes (like others) it would stay at 100% on certain occasions. The only
ones that seemed to give me a true reading is iarsn taskinfo and cpuidle
whic i dont believe offer a free version.I havent tried procees explorers
long enough to see if it works ok , but it does show cpu usage in system
tray.

Interesting, but like most others I've tried doesn't show correct CPU
usage in Win98, and also doesn't do what the OP wanted - - tray icon is
just a bug (which doesn't bode well for the prog itself!)

Yes ive just tried it too , and you are correct about the windows 95/98/me
known "bug" which causes most cpu monitors (including microsofts sysmon) not
to function correctly.Process explorers seem to work ok apart from a problem
i have using pimmy with it.Personally the only ones that seem to work
correctly on my 98se system is process explorers cpu monitor and the payware
iarsn taskinfo or the smaller iarsn abpmon.

Just curious, on Process Explorer, where are modifications to the
options saved? PE runs from a .EXE file and is not installed. It
took me quite a time to get the refresh speed to go from pause to 1
sec and stay.

The only other freeware program that I've found to correctly show the
CPU % is Wintop.
