CPU Usage at 100%

With XP Home Edition the Windows Task Manager shows the CPU at 100% and
stays there when I try to print a page on Internet Explorer 7. No action
from the printer! Any suggestions for cause and cure? At this time the CPU
usage is in the range of 10 to 20% and the PF Usage is steady at 324MB.

With the CPU usage at 100% go to the Processes tab in Task Manager and
click twice on the CPU column header. That will sort the list into
descending order based on CPU usage and should tell you which process
is using the majority of the CPU time.

If spoolsv.exe is the process using the CPU you could have a Backdoor
Trojan -Backdoor.Ciadoor.B

Otherwise spoolsv.exe is your Printer Spooler service
http://www.neuber.com/taskmanager/process/spoolsv.exe.html

Note if a Trojan gets in it holds the door open to allow his friends
in so be prepared for a number of uninvited guests.
