CPU usage and speed

Hi

I'm wondering what would cause my CPU usage to be around 90% when I don't have any programs running? When I shut down the computer and then boot it up in the morning, or whenever, it will be at around 20% CPU usage and throughout the day the CPU usage will keep going up. All I really do is chill on the web, I'm not really running any programs or anything. Any thoughts or ideas? Spyware, adware, etc. I might have? I use Adaware 6.0 frequently to check for those issues

I have a 1.99 GHz AMD athlon, 490mb of ram, plenty of hard drive space on 2 drive

Thanks

If you are only using Adaware try these other sites. Spybot and Kephyr
especially.
