What do you guys think to be the best "bang for your buck" CPU for socket 939?

I currently looking for one, i have seen a AMD +4000 for $125. Right now i have a 3500 and wish to upgrade but i dont really know whats a good deal.

I suppose its going to depend on what you going to use it for, and how much your willing to spend Alf - for multitasking then how about a X2 3800/4200 for around $160, but if your a gamer then I would stick with the single core AMD 4000+ or maybe a FX-55 for around $200?

I think its good and the 4200's ain't a bad overclocker either. ;)

I seen people with them at around 2.6Mhz on stock cooling before needing to mess with the voltages.

Yea, but at 16 Gigs?! Can you imagine what you can do with that kind of storage?

Also, when do you think the prices will drop... or have they already for AMD CPUs?

Fill it with 16GB of music!? :D
Seriously, its ok but i personally dont have the need for it. :)

Well 939 socket cpus are being phased out in favour of AM2 so they wont be making anymore of them now. So they wont get cheaper. Shops will just sell what they have left then move to AM2 stuff.

IMO you will kick yourself if you upgrade without going dual-core. Get the fastest 939 X2 (or Opty) you can afford. This makes your entire computing experience so much smoother.
