I have two users on my XP Pro. When we use the switch
users as opposed to the log off/on option, the CPU (Intel
2.6 400 mhz) runs at 140 f. give or take a couple of
degrees. To me that seems hot even though the thermal
design extreme is at 158 f.
If I run XP so that each of us logs off then on option,
the CPU runs at, < 110 f.
Does anyone know why the 30 degrees difference between
two ways to run XP? Is this normal for XP?

Justin

The CPU is running hotter because for some reason your CPU usage must be
close to or at 100% when the temperature is 140F. Use the task manager to
see which program is consuming the CPU usage when both of you are signed on.
I would expect a slight more CPU usage when you are both signed on but not
enough to cause the CPU to increase 30 deg in temperature.
