cpu speed

on my_computer property, general tab, there is cpu report, describing cpu
type, total memory.

there is also cpu speed report, but it often declines from declared speed
from cpu description, in previous line.

is there some corrective action to ensure these two values to be equal?

cpu is "pentium (r) mobile 1.80 ghz", but speed report in the next line is
often just 598mhz?

any comment?

Sounds like the cpu is being correctly identified by you have the bus speed
and/or multiplier mismatched in the BIOS so that is giving the discrepancy.

Better read the manual on making BIOS changes.

You can check on Intel; I recall, but I might be wrong, that Pentium M's
alters clock speed on the fly - to save battery.
