CPU running at 100%

I am running windows xp home on Athlon xp3100+ tht runs at
2.20GHz with 512mb ddr.For some reason a box pop-ups and tell me the i am
running lowe on virtual memory and since the day my CPU starts running at
100%.
It's the same with all applications.
PLEASE HELP ME.

Update your definitions and run a full anti-virus scan. Then check for
spyware

These have freeware versions

The latter is a beta but it offers real-time protection. The first two only
include real-time protection in the purchase versions.

It sounds like you could have more than one problem.

How large is your hard drive? Is it partitioned? How much free space on
each drive / partition. To get this information whilst in Windows Explorer
place the cursor on each drive in turn, right click and select Properties.

hi,thank for posting back.
I downloaded Microsoft AntiSpyware and run a full anti-virus scan.And
detected 1 Spyware thread it is Idesk Adware on
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\IDEMLOG.EXE.
My hard drive is 160GB and i have 120GB free space ON DRIVE- C.
DRIVE-D I have 775MB free space.BUT my CPU still runs at 94% to 100% when
there no applications running.ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATFUL.

Try clearing your startup list, its possible there are too many
processes loading at startup and running in the background taking
resources. Also scan for spyware. Here's a link on VM which will help-
