CPU Continues at 100%

My Compaq Presario laptop, running Windows XP Pro with latest updates, has
just begun to allow its CPU to be running at 100%. The SYSTEM seems to be the
main user of the CPU when other programs are not running it.

How can I find out just what program, service or process is causing this to
occur?

Thanks for the advice. I managed to fix it, but I am not sure how. I will
