cpu bogged down

I have a Gateway Pentium 4, 512 mem. my link speed is 10 kbps, my network
utilization is from .01 to 2.6. My cmputer is going very slow especially on
th einternet, CPU is usually maxed out. it looks like Zone alarm is using
most of it. I tried some things tath Gerry suggested on here, I cleaned up my
Internet hist. did a run open cmd for severl DLL's. When I went to trendmicro
to clean the malware and viruse, it has been taking me 2 days to download and
fix the problems. i am not sure if it was even doing anything, so I rebooted
and here i am Looking for more help. I down loaded a mem test, but i need to
run it from a floppy, I dno't have any. Any ideas? or what other info do you
need to help me out?

Maybe Zone is the problem. Try uninstalling and installing a fresh copy.
Perhaps you can find a friend to download for you and put the downloads
on a USB drive.
For malware cleaning, download David Lipman's Multi_AV tool. You can
find a link to it on my pages(see below). Run the tool online because it
has 4 scanners plus sig files that need to be downloaded. Then copy the
folder created onto the USB drive. I have some other tools listed on my
pages.
Also,after all downloads, disconnect from the internet before running
tools in safe-mode.
You may want to do a scan with HiJackThis. There are many forums to help
with the logs.
