I get this problem too using XP and loads of CPU power.
I have tracked it down to g9ocesoxp.exe which is running
on bootup. It grabs about 96% or CPU!
As soon as I End the process, things get back to normal.
What is it?
It sits in my C:\Windows directory

There are no returns from Google if you enter g9ocesoxp.exe. What info do
you get if you right click and look at the properties? Is there any activity
through your internet connection whilst the process is running?

It sounds like malware. How far along the search and find spyware route have
you gone?

Hope this helps.

What task is running at 100%? Go to task manager and see what it is,
then post back. In the mean time scan your system for adware/malware
and viruses:

Run these programs to check for spyware/malware. After installing
update them, then boot into safe mode and run them. You should run
update and run them weekly.

Lastly make sure you have a firewall active. At the least use the one
built into XP, but better yet use one of the free ones from Sygate, Zone
Alarm or Kerio.
