CPU 100% causing restart

After being given wrong direction by McAfee where they said that SpyBot was
causing problems with mcsysmon.exe I removed SpyBot. This did not solve
problem especially since I did not have SpyBot on computer when problem came
back after reformatting+reloading Winxp-pro, MsOffice, and McAfee only.
However I did solve my problem temporarily by unchecking scheduled scans.
Hopefully McAfee will come up with a better solution. Or if anyone else has
one please post. Thanks everyone for your help.

I have a better solution, but it's one that you may not want to hear:
dump McAfee. Next to Norton, it's the worst possible choice of
security software. There are several freeware products that are much
better.

I agree...
Even if you don't pick a free one - there are better alternatives.

Here's some information on AV solutions:

( Good Comparison Page for AV software: http://www.av-comparatives.org/ )

AntiVir (Free and up)

avast! (Free and up)
http://www.avast.com/

AVG Anti-Virus System (Free and up)
http://free.grisoft.com/

ca Anti-Virus (~$49.99 and up)

eset NOD32 (~$39.00 and up)

Kaspersky Anti-Virus (~$39.95 and up)
http://www.kaspersky.com/kav6

Panda Antivirus Titanium (~$39.95 and up)
http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/antivirus2007.htm
(Free Online Scanner: http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/)

Trend Micro (~$44.95 and up)

(Free Online Scanner:

I know many people that use and I recommend AVG to many people. It works
well, is easy to use and *is free*.

automatic,
you may experience some pretty heavy load for a few minutes before
stabilizing.
In conjunction with low virtual memory, a restart may be the result
