Covert Simple Partition on Dynamic Disk????

Well the dudes that setup our server choose BASIC disks, which means
that the BASIC partition on it cannot be extended since it was created
BEFORE it was converted to a dynamic disk.

I already have the disk converted to dynamic but of course cannot
extend the volume.

After fruitless searches about cenverting this simple partition to a
"dynamic partition" I have decied to post here and see if anyone knows
of any after market utility that will do this.

Anyone know of a way other than backing up, destroy that partition and
recreate and restore contents?

A partition on a basic disk can be extended using diskpart.exe. A volume on
a dynamic disk that ever was a partition on a basic disk can not be
extended. Normally, while installing, only the first partition is created
on a basic disk, then the disk is upgraded to dynamic, and last other
volumes are added.

Perhaps Ghost can be of help, it can make images of volumes on dynamic
disks.

I am not aware of any other software that handles dynamic disks.

Best regards

Bjorn
