couple of installation questions

I have a new 80G WD harddrive. I put Win2000 in it and easily got all
my hardware working. I have a scanner, printer, PCI USB hub, graphics
card, modem, Promise Ultra ADA 100 card, zip drive, and 3 CD drives.
Everything shows up and functions fine. Then I wanted to add my old
40G hard drive, and the bios sees it, and it shows up in device
manager after Win 2000 boots up, but it doesn't show up in My Computer
or Windows Explorer. What's the problem? I've tried putting it as
slave to the Win 2000 drive, I've put it on the secondary IDE port on
the MB, and I've put it on the Promise controller.

Second question, once I get Win 2000 to see it, assumming it comes to
pass, can I put Win 98 on the 40G drive and tell the computer where to
boot from bios?

Third question, I don't like the drive letter assignments Win 2000
gave. Is there a way to change the drive letter assignments?

Thanks in advance for any help.

1.) Did you assign it a drive letter?
Start|Run|diskmgmt.msc

2.) Generally you need to install OS's oldest first, newest last.
When you dualboot Win9x and Windows 2000; Windows 2000 creates a file named
bootsect.dos; if you select an operating system other than Windows 2000,
NTLDR loads bootsect.dos and passes control to it. The operating system then
starts up as normal, because bootsect.dos contains the boot sector that was
on the primary partition before you installed Windows 2000. So win98 needs
to have been installed first. Also the system partition (first primary
active partition) needs to be fat 16 or fat 32 in this scenario

3.) You can reassign non-system non-boot partition drive letters in Disk
Management
Start|Run|diskmgmt.msc
