Country Version

My son has moved to Germany and taken his pc with him. Upon trying to
register with a new Internet Service Privider (T.Com) the software CD they
sent him will not load. When he tries to load it a message pops up saying
"The country version of your operating system is not German - it cannot be
identified. The installation is therfore aborted."
My question is how can he change the country version so that he can load the
required software? Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks

I don't know anything about German ISPs, but as a general rule, you
never need to use the software provided by your ISP, regardless of
where the ISP is. He can use whatever software he wants.

Thank you for your help. I think his catch 22 situation is that he has no
internet connection at present. I'm not sure how he can get on the internet
without using the ISP's software. Any suggestions? Thanks again

You're welcome. Glad to help.

As I said, I have never seen any situation in which you need your
ISP's software to get on the internet. The standard software always
works.

On the other hand, I know nothing about T.Com or any other German ISP.
I can't imagine how what I said above could be wrong, but perhaps I
just don't know enough about German ISPs.
