Don't even know if this would be the right group for this question,
but... This is the wierdest thing that has ever happened to me. Today
my computer froze. I couldn't do anything; not even ctrl+alt+delete. I
figured I'd try to turn it off with the button, but when I pushed the
power button, the bloody thing still stayed on. I finally just
unplugged it.

Does anybody have any idea how this could have happened? I've done a
few things over the last day or so: I hooked up my DSL modem,
downloaded some Windows Update stuff (I don't have SP2)... McAfee
VirusScan has been finding some problems with my machine. One of the
issues it was trying to fix required me to turn off System Restore and
restart. As soon as I restarted, my display was all screwey. I turned
it back on and restarted, and it was fine... until this.

Any ideas why this happened? Has this happened to anybody else before?
Should I be very worried?

Cannot reset by power button, hold the power button for 3 to 5 seconds. So
you don't have to pull the plug.

Take a look in the event viewer and see if there are any clues.

As far as turning it off, you need to push and hold the power button for
about 7 seconds before it will power off.

3 seconds - 5 seconds - 7 seconds

It all depends upon the motherboard and the bios installed! (-:

And it depends on how fast you count :-)
