Could not find object 'Databases'

I'm getting an error message when trying to open an Access
2000 database indicating "The Microsoft Jet database could
not find the object 'Databases'". Anyone have an idea how
to handle this kind of a problem?
 
Thanks for the reply. I am aware of the references
collection and with objects that are --MISSING--. My
problem is that I can't open the database at all.
JetComp.exe and Excel 2000 produce the same error message.
Any more ideas?
