Corrupted "Search The Web" tool bar

I had an attachment in a junk email that self loaded and
was a direct link to a porn site. It changed my home page
default to that site and also entered permanent links on
my "Search the web" tool bar line. I could change my home
page back, but, I cannot get rid of the buttons on that
line. All the buttons have to do with "Paris Hilton Sex"
and it created a line item in the drop down toolbars menu
called "spidersearch.com". I can uncheck this toolbar and
it will stay hidden, but as soon as I log out and then
back in to the browser, it will automatically show up
again.

I went into the registry and deleted all the
spiderseach.com entries, and all that did was to make the
toolbar item blank instead of saying spidersearch.com.

Also, along with the annoying toolbar, I also get a pop-up
menu often that says I have been searching porn sites and
I am being watched. This is not true, and would like to
know how to stop the pop-up screens from happening.

Thanks

Go to Tools | Options | Security and put OE in the restricted zone to block
scripting.
I would also, if you are using SP1, go to Tools | Options | Read and check
Read all messages in plain text for further protection.

Eliminate any scumware.
See
Dealing with Unwanted Spyware, Parasites, Toolbars and Search Engines
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each need to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded.

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.

Spidersearch is a troublesome pest to get rid of, and I suggest you get
individual advice. Here's how:

If you don't already have it, get Spybot S&D. There's a short tutorial and
download link here:
http://tomcoyote.org/SPYBOT/

After installing, press Online, and search for, put a check mark at, and
install all updates.

Fix everything SpybotSD labels in red.

Reboot, and then test your system. If your problem isn't gone (or if you're
unsure)-

Download 'Hijack This!'. http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/
Unzip, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log"
button.
Press that, save the log, load it in Notepad, and copy its contents. Most
of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, don't fix anything
yet.

Then go to http://forums.spywareinfo.com/
where you'll get expert help.

Just sign in, or post as a guest, and go to the Spyware and Hijackware
Removal Support section. Press "new topic", explain your problem, and
copy and paste the contents of the Hijack This log into your new message.

For an example of how this pest has been successfully dealt with, see:
