Corrupted Profile

If you start a computer and due to some glitch, your profile is not
recognized, the computer sets up a new temporary user profile.
If one were to drag data files onto the desktop (found using a search mode
for the files), then the computer is turned off..... is the data lost? Or
is the data still in the origninal users profile and possibly retrievable?

Thanks for any and all suggestions/comments

Drag the files with your right mouse button, not with your left
button. You will then be given a choice between "move" and "copy".

Yes retrievable. Profile corruption is almost always a result of (and
limited to) registry user hive corruption (ntuser.dat)
