Corrupted disk

Hi! Very often I am getting an error message about corrupted disk:
" sidebar.exe -Corrupt disk. The file system structure on the disk is
corrupted and unusable. Please run the Chkdsk utility on the volume C:"
Sometimes, even without that message, when I start my computer I am getting
a message that volume C is corrupted, and Windows launches Chkdsk utility.
Anybody with similar problems, or ideas what is causing it and how it can be
fixed?

I may have had the start-up experience, I had left the room and on returning
chkdsk was running, but since I wasn't there I don't know what disk it was
checking. Made about 20 fixes but I have not noticed anything change in
using Vista.

Did you use a third party program (i.e. Acronis) to partition, format and
disk check before trying to instal Vista ? There's been two or three reports
(on this group) of a similar problem and they all seem to be down to using
Acronis to prep the disk. I had some major corrupt disk problems (increasing
with severity the more I used Vista) with three re-instals (on different
disks/partitions) before someone suggested that I use XP to partition,
format and check the disk rather than Acronis. Since I did that everything
is running without any problems. It appears that MSFT may have made some
changes to NTFS on Vista.

Yes, I used Acronics to partition and format this disk. Well, I'll re-install
Vista formating the disk with WindowsXP.
Thank you for your advice!

Should be ok if you do that, I'm still using Acronis (build 2117) for XP
partitions without any problems but am keeping it well clear of the Vista
partition. I've taken the problems up with Acronis and (like may other
software houses) are saying Acronis will not provide support for Vista until
the final version is released.

Hope you re-instal went ok.
